McDonald's USA Serves Quality Produce

McDonald's uses fresh fruit and vegetables in a variety of our menu options. Whether it is a Premium Salad, Fruit 'n Yogurt Parfait, or just the fresh lettuce and tomatoes used on sandwiches.

Apples

All of the apples McDonald's chooses are harvested to perfection in some of the same apple orchards that supply local grocery stores and fruit stands. The apples we select include Granny Smith, Gala, Jonagold and Empire to name a few. These sweet crisp apples are gently washed and sliced to ensure quality and freshness the moment the customer enjoys their first taste of the Fruit & Walnut salad, opens the package of Apple Dippers or bites into the warm baked apple pie.

Grapes and Walnuts
For McDonald's Fruit & Walnut salad, McDonald's uses USDA 1 red seedless grapes and candied Diamond walnuts.

Did you know? Grapes contain vitamin C and potassium, as well as a small amount of fiber and that walnuts can help lower cholesterol.

Blueberries & Strawberries

McDonald's strawberries are grown from many of the top farms across North America. To ensure quality, McDonald's works with local growers to ensure that the strawberries are grown in the perfect field conditions. Once the strawberries are ripe and ready to be picked, they are inspected for perfection; washed, cut and frozen and then delivered to the restaurant where they are mixed into McDonald's Fruit 'n Yogurt Parfait.

McDonald's provides quality blueberries picked from the bushes in Michigan, the Carolinas and Georgia. Our quality commitment starts in the field and continues through packing, inspection, pre-cooling, warehousing and shipping to our restaurants. Berries are carefully selected for the highest quality and flavor. When they are delivered they are stored frozen to ensure quality, premium taste and nutrition when mixed into our fresh Fruit 'n Yogurt Parfait.

Lettuce
Getting your vegetables doesn't have to take a lot of time, especially when you lunch on a tasty McDonald's Premium Salad.

Our entree salads provide three servings of vegetables and our Side Salad provides one serving of vegetables, according to the USDA. Our salads also are an excellent source of vitamins A and C.

McDonald's chooses to use mixed green lettuce for our salads, ensuring great nutritional value for our customers. Our lettuce is grown on farms with lots of sunlight and water ensuring proper growing conditions. The lettuce is then picked, sorted, washed and placed in vacuum coolers to retain essential crispness before being transported to the restaurants. Our entire method of harvest and transportation is designed to keep the lettuce crisp with no freezing at any stage so that you get a quality Premium Salad prepared fresh daily.

Green Leaf lettuce is used on sandwiches and burgers because of its sweet flavor, crisp texture, and high popularity with our customers. The Green Leaf lettuce is sorted and picked for the premium quality and transported quickly in refrigerated trucks to guarantee freshness when delivered to the restaurants for use on your sandwich.

 Potatoes
To make our World Famous French Fries and delicious Hash Browns, we use only select potatoes available from the best potato farmers across the country. After choosing the potatoes they are then inspected to ensure quality in every bite.

Once the French Fries are cut and the Hash Browns are made, they are frozen to guarantee quality upon arrival at the restaurants.

The frozen fries are cooked to the perfect texture that McDonald's customers have grown to expect- fluffy inside and crisp outside. The cooked French Fries are then sprinkled with salt before being served, hot and steamy, to hungry customers.

Tomatoes
The tomatoes we use in our Premium Salads and on your favorite McDonald's sandwiches are grown in farms across North America. The tomatoes are then sorted and picked providing outstanding quality when served to our customers.

Our tomatoes are selected for their color and flavor so that you can see the freshness in the salad or sandwich you choose. McDonald's tomatoes arrive in the restaurant fresh, not frozen to ensure quality.
